STSTMicroelectronics was founded in 1987, headquartered in Switzerland. It was formed by the merger of Italian company SGS Microelectronics and French company Thomson Semiconductor. It was listed simultaneously in Paris and New York in 1994. STMicroelectronics has three major business departments: Automotive and Discrete Devices; Simulator components, MEMS, and sensor departments; Microcontroller and Digital IC departments. STMicroelectronics adopts the IDM model and has 16 research and development institutions, 39 design and application centers, and 13 manufacturing bases. The company has significant R&D capabilities, with 18000 patents and over 8100 R&D and design personnel, accounting for 18% of the total. In 2020, R&D investment accounted for 15% of revenue. At present, STMicroelectronics has 13 production bases worldwide, with front-end production bases distributed in Italy, Singapore, France, etc., and back-end production bases involving the Philippines, Malaysia, China, etc. STMicroelectronics has a product layout in fields such as smart transportation, power energy, and the Internet of Things. We have specialized automotive ICs, discrete devices, and power transistors in the field of smart transportation; Having simulator devices, industrial and power conversion ICs, general-purpose MCUs and MPUs, safety MCUs, etc. in the field of power and energy; In terms of the Internet of Things and 5G, it involves MEMS and optical sensor solutions. In the field of power semiconductors, our main products include SiC and high/low voltage silicon diodes, GaN power devices, RF transistors, IGBTs, MOSFETs, etc. Among them, MOSFET covers 35V to 1800V, SiC MOSFET can meet the industry's highest level at 200 degrees Celsius, and IGBT covers 350V to 1300V. The delivery form of SiC MOSFET by STMicroelectronics includes customized design modules and specialized standard modules, and the company also provides bare chips to partner module manufacturers. In order to reduce dependence on upstream supply chain manufacturers CREE and SiCrystal, STMicroelectronics acquired European semiconductor raw material supplier Norstel and established its own 6-inch wafer production system. Currently, 8-inch SiC wafer products have also been delivered. In the field of specialized automotive IC, we mainly provide automotive MCU solutions, ADAS solutions (CMOS image sensors, image signal processors, V2X communication solutions, etc.), information and entertainment programs and remote information processing products, automotive simulation and power devices, etc. In the field of analog and power conversion ICs, we mainly provide power management products (AC/DC and DC/DC converters, analog-to-digital controllers, battery management ICs, etc.), analog IC products (operational amplifiers, readout amplifiers, etc.), motor control products (motor drives, MOSFET&IGBT gate drivers, etc.), and connection solutions (Bluetooth low-power ICs). In the field of MEMS and optical sensing solutions, we mainly provide motion sensors (acceleration sensors, gyroscopes, etc.), environmental sensors (pressure sensors, temperature sensors, etc.), micro actuators, and optical sensing solutions (3D ToF sensors). In addition, the company also has MCU and MPU related product lines. |
